The research team is preparing for the project’s second phase of data collection in the fall of 2021.

For this second phase, we will follow up with the more than 600 Wisconsin undergraduate student service members and veterans we surveyed and interviewed in the spring of 2020. Our central goal will be to better understand the STEM trajectories these students have been on since we last spoke–whether they’re still in college, have graduated and gone on to further schooling or careers, or have taken other paths–and how their social support networks have influenced their journeys.

This round of data collection will commence in November and carry us through 2022. After we return from the field, we will once again analyze our data to create reports, scholarly papers, and presentations that we hope can inform STEM educators, student affairs practitioners, higher education leaders, scholars, and other interested stakeholders.

Stay tuned!
